The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) once again took the city by storm, screening all the hottest new has taken Toronto by storm, screening all the hottest new movies of the year. Included in this year’s line-up were two Canadian films shot at Pinewood Toronto Studios.

388 ARLETTA is the unsettling Hitchcockian thriller written and directed by Randall Cole. The story focuses on James Deakins (Nick Stahl) and his wife Amy (Mia Kirshner) who lead a very comfortable life in an upscale Toronto neighbourhood. What neither James nor Amy knows is that they’re being watched 24 hours a day. Whoever is watching them knows just how to manipulate them. Odd things start happening: A radio alarm goes off too early, a mixed CD appears in their locked car with music neither one likes. Individually, each mishap is manageable, but together, they create mistrust that turns to tension, then tension turns to anger and then, Amy disappears.

Production took place in a house in Toronto shortly before Christmas 2010.

TAKE THIS WALTZ is Sarah Polley’s second feature, following the twice Oscar®-nominated Away From Her.

Production took place at Pinewood Toronto Studios and around the city of Toronto and also in Louisburg, Nova Scotia. The film stars Luke Kirby, Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman and two-time Oscar®-nominee Michelle Williams.

Twenty-eight-year-old Margot (Williams) is happily married to Lou (Rogen), a good-natured cookbook author. But when Margot meets Daniel (Kirby), who lives across the street, their mutual attraction is obvious and immediate. The two begin spending time together and try to restrain themselves from doing things they might regret, but the sweltering Toronto summer has a way of making certain desires more urgent.

Blake Steels, Managing Director of Pinewood Toronto Studios commented:

“Pinewood Toronto Studios is one of North America’s newest and most impressive studio spaces and is fast attracting some fantastic films and television shows. Our purpose-built complex can house productions of any scale from big blockbusters such as Total Recall, to smaller budget films such as 388 Arletta and Take This Waltz. It was a pleasure hosting these two films at our facilities."
